I read Part of Your World last week when I was desperately seeking reprieve from the emotional abuse that Sarah J. Maas’ books put me through. Seriously, how does she pack so many plot twists and heartwrenching moments into her books? I digress, Part of Your World had been sitting on my shelf for around a month after I bought it in a fit of bookish excitement. The novel proved to be the relaxing retreat that I needed.
Here’s the blurb before I continue:
After a wild bet, gourmet grilled-cheese sandwich, and cuddle with a baby goat, Alexis Montgomery has had her world turned upside down. The cause: Daniel Grant, a ridiculously hot carpenter who’s ten years younger than her and as casual as they come—the complete opposite of sophisticated city-girl Alexis. And yet their chemistry is undeniable.
While her ultra-wealthy parents want her to carry on the family legacy of world-renowned surgeons, Alexis doesn’t need glory or fame. She’s fine with being a “mere” ER doctor. And every minute she spends with Daniel and the tight-knit town where he lives, she’s discovering just what’s really important. Yet letting their relationship become anything more than a short-term fling would mean turning her back on her family and giving up the opportunity to help thousands of people.
Bringing Daniel into her world is impossible, and yet she can’t just give up the joy she’s found with him either. With so many differences between them, how can Alexis possibly choose between her world and his?
Onward! I have read books by Abby Jimenez before, and I loved those stories, so I did not hesitate when starting this book. Jimenez’s trademark witty humor takes a spotlight in this book with the amazing one-liners that she includes in the dialogue. The humor made this an easy read that had me snorting and giggling along the way. The main characters are extremely lovable and I was cheering for them throughout the whole story. That being said, a book can’t truly be good, in my opinion, without a truly hate-able villain, and there were some of those in this book. In her true fashion, Jimenez wrought quite a few fascinating character arcs where the villains became more redeemable, so you don’t have to worry about living with the hatred for the villains after the book ends. As I said before, this book was a relaxing read. There were very few plot twists, and the surprises that were in the book didn’t break my brain or my heart so yay for that! The ending of the book tied up everything nicely and made for a satisfying read. I would recommend Part of Your World to rom-com lovers and those looking for a relaxing read with a HEA.
Happy Reading!
